Kelly Clarkson
All I Ever Wanted

(RCA; 2009)

By Heather Yarnell

Originally and tellingly dubbed Masquerade, it's entirely to Kelly Clarkson's credit that she can singlehandedly keep swill like "My Life Would Suck Without You" afloat. All gussied up in production (and Photoshop) glare, the surely sarcastically titled All I Ever Wanted pieces together sturdy originals in the form of soaring ballads and sassy sing-alongs with, strangely enough, previously released material from Katy Perry, Aranda and Keri Noble. But after the My December debacle, didn't anybody at RCA notice that the strongest songs here are the ones Clarkson cowrote?
