Not Herself Tonight: Revising Christina Aguilera

In the iTunes era of playlists and mp3s, it's not uncommon for tracklistings to be tweaked to suit individual tastes. Lop off a song here, add a b-side there and a so-so album can be customized into personal perfection. With her past three releases averaging to twenty tracks apiece, Christina Aguilera is a prime candidate for this type of album alteration, as editing has never been her forte. Here's how each album would have turned out had Serendipity Media been in charge!

Stripped. As is, there's a not much begging to be chucked here, but a few minor adjustments can increase the album's overall quality. Toss out the interludes and a handful of the weakest tracks for an all around tighter release.

Back to Basics. So bloated it was released as a two-disc set, when the majority of songs from disc one should have been purged altogether. For a much more impressive album, focus on disc two with just a sprinkling of disc one added in.

Bionic. By far the weakest of Aguilera's albums, it's a bit harder to assemble a solid collection out of this material. Replacing twelve of the tracks with the deluxe edition's four superior bonus songs makes for a short but stronger listen.
